About the position

As the Assistant Vice President of Portfolio Administration, Client Service & Marketing at Spectrum Asset Management, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the portfolio administration and client service functions. This position requires a strong focus on performance reporting, compliance monitoring, and marketing strategies to enhance client satisfaction and operational efficiency. You will lead a small team dedicated to supporting clients by providing accurate performance data, maintaining analytic systems, and preparing comprehensive client review materials. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring compliance across the firm, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our operations. In this role, you will manage and facilitate the client reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, as well as for ad hoc requests. You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining client account performance and attribution reporting, as well as overseeing internal composites, benchmarks, and indices. Acting as a strategic liaison, you will communicate effectively between partners, clients, and various internal teams, including portfolio, credit, and sales teams. Your leadership will be essential as you engage in all facets of portfolio administration and client service, acting as a player-coach to guide your team in achieving their goals. This position not only requires a deep understanding of financial markets and investment strategies but also the ability to foster strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders. You will support senior management and sales teams with market and portfolio data, analytical materials, and due diligence requests, making your role integral to the success of Spectrum Asset Management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and facilitate the client reporting process flow on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc basis.
  • Monitor and maintain client account performance and attribution reporting, internal composites, benchmarks, and indices.
  • Act as a strategic liaison between partners, clients, and the portfolio, credit, and sales teams.
  • Engage in all facets of portfolio administration and client service as a player-coach overseeing and guiding a small team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years in investment/mutual fund operations or a related field, with deep knowledge of fixed income products and services.
  • In-depth understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, investment products, security types, risk statistics, investment performance, characteristics/analytics, and attribution methodologies.
  • Proven skills in problem-solving, planning, time management, decision making, consulting, negotiation, and project management.

Nice-to-haves

  • CFA certification.
  • Direct experience with and knowledge of portfolio guideline monitoring systems, particularly Bloomberg CMGR.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and effectively communicate with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Ability to understand and use technology in the delivery of services.
  • FINRA SIE, Series 7 and Series 63 preferred or ability to obtain within 180 days.
