About the position

The Assistant Vice President - Safety Management at Intermountain Healthcare is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for Safety, Security, Emergency Management, and hospital dispatch operations. This role involves planning, developing, overseeing, and evaluating services related to Safety Management Services across the organization. The position emphasizes continuous improvement, operational success, and compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of safety and caregiver engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise-wide leadership and strategic direction for Safety, Security, Emergency Management, and hospital dispatch operations.
  • Develop and administer best practice processes to align operations with business objectives.
  • Implement governance structures for Safety Management operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead all aspects of security services, including staffing, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop policies and training programs for consistent, high-quality security services.
  • Mentor staff and promote professional growth through educational opportunities.
  • Coordinate enterprise safety initiatives and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Engage with hospitals to meet CMS Conditions of Participation and Joint Commission standards.
  • Oversee hazardous materials and RCRA compliance.
  • Lead enterprise emergency response and business continuity planning.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in safety and environmental regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
  • Advanced financial acumen for operational budgeting and financial monitoring.
  • Strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in facilities management.
  • Project management skills with the ability to implement projects on time and within budget constraints.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software.
