About the position

This position is responsible for providing leadership to plan, develop, oversee, coordinate, and evaluate services and products relevant to all aspects of Safety Management Services for Intermountain Health. The role involves enterprise-wide leadership and strategic direction for Safety, Security, Emergency Management, and hospital dispatch/call center operations, enhancing safety, quality, patient experience, access, stewardship, and caregiver engagement. The leader will implement governance structures necessary for compliance with regulatory requirements and effective operations.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates urgency and a drive for continuous improvement in processes and results.
  • Achieves operational success through strategic thinking, maintaining a customer-centric approach, and fostering relationships.
  • Assumes responsibility for actions and decisions, with a strong self-awareness and a focus on developing and motivating teams.
  • Leads all aspects of security services, including staffing, budgeting, dispatch operations, security technology, and regulatory compliance, while driving process enhancements for optimal performance.
  • Develops policies and training programs to ensure consistent, high-quality security services, and aligns department goals with broader organizational objectives, improving compliance and safety.
  • Mentors staff and promotes professional growth through educational opportunities and participative management models.
  • Leads enterprise safety initiatives, coordinating training and acting as an expert on regulatory requirements to prevent workplace injuries.
  • Directs compliance with safety and environmental regulations, ensuring cost-effective and beneficial practices across Intermountain facilities.
  • Engages with hospitals to meet CMS Conditions of Participation and Joint Commission standards and oversees hazardous materials and RCRA compliance.
  • Leads enterprise emergency response and business continuity planning, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and providing oversight for the Intermountain Center for Disaster Preparedness.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a role requiring a working knowledge of safety and environmental regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT, State Health Department, etc.).
  • Experience in a role requiring advanced financial acumen including devising appropriate operational responses for budget variances, annual operational budgeting, and financial monitoring.
  • Experience in a role requiring strong analytical skills, knowledge and abilities, and hands-on experience and expertise in managing all aspects of facilities management.
  • Experience in a role requiring managing complex issues in a highly matrixed organization and success in obtaining results in leading change with new initiatives.
  • Experience in a role requiring project management skills, including the demonstrated ability to conceptualize, develop and implement projects on time and within budget constraints.
  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, financial and scheduling software and systems.
