About the position

The Assistant Video Editor plays a crucial role in the Marcom Post Production Department at Apple, ensuring a structured and collaborative environment in the editing suite. This position involves working closely with editors from the initial ideation phase through to the final delivery of video content. The ideal candidate is expected to have a blend of technical, organizational, and creative skills, contributing to high-quality productions that engage Apple’s global customer base.

Responsibilities

• Setting up editorial projects to studio specifications
• Importing and managing media
• Syncing footage and logging dailies
• Creating selects reels and recording scratch VO
• Editing rough assemblies and organizing timelines
• Formatting and generating VFX, Color, and Audio prep with corresponding formats
• Supervising client sessions by taking notes and updating databases
• Creating dub lists, exporting cuts, and posting to multiple destinations
• Performing basic compositing, tracking, and rotoscoping
• Working unpredictable long hours, late nights, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

• 3+ years of assistant editor experience at an editorial house, in-house advertising agency, or corporate communications studio
• Expert level FCPX, Compressor, and Adobe Premiere user
• Thorough understanding of the post production pipeline and interchange
• Deep knowledge of audio/video file formats, codecs, frame rates, resolutions, aspect ratios, compression schemes, color spaces, audio bit depths, sample rates, and channel configurations
• Extraordinary communication and organization skills
• Great attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to deliver results when it comes to hitting milestones and deadlines
• Highly organized with a drive to create efficiencies and streamlined processes
• Ability to build rapport, credibility, and trust across multiple stakeholders
