About the position

The Assistant VP - Industrial Water Treatment Engineer will lead and manage clients, projects, and staff involved in various industrial and mine water treatment projects. This role involves designing treatment plants, providing procurement and construction support, and optimizing current operations. The position also emphasizes business development, mentorship of junior engineers, and collaboration across disciplines to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage clients, projects, and staff involved in industrial and mine water treatment projects.
  • Design industrial and mine water treatment plants, including alternatives analyses and process design from conceptual through detailed design.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
  • Provide procurement and construction support for projects.
  • Support commissioning and start-up of water treatment plants.
  • Optimize current operating plants and make process decisions.
  • Initiate business development opportunities and develop proposals including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Mentor early career and mid-level engineers to support their growth and professional development.
  • Achieve key performance goals through project work and winning new work.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering with a focus in Water Treatment or closely related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • 10-15+ years of relevant post-education experience in a design or consulting engineering firm working on industrial and mining water treatment projects.
  • Strong engineering skills in process development and detailed design projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently as a self-starter.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, along with graphics software for conceptual design.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and office automation software.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and directing subcontractors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • MSHA certification.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
