Riverstone Logistics (RLX) is dedicated to being a reliable freight forwarding partner, focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences through final mile deliveries across the United States. The Assistant Warehouse Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Warehouse or Location Manager in overseeing the operational efforts of a specific client location. This position operates under limited supervision and is integral in the development and implementation of location policies and procedures. The Assistant Warehouse Manager collaborates with current and potential motor carriers, conducts operational analyses, and audits existing procedures to enhance efficiency and client satisfaction. In this role, the Assistant Warehouse Manager will primarily work in the office or warehouse, ensuring that daily operations align with the company's objectives. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, acting as the point of contact in the absence of the Warehouse/Location Manager, and implementing Lean Six Sigma principles throughout the warehouse. The Assistant Warehouse Manager is also responsible for enforcing compliance standards, managing distribution service planning and scheduling, and fostering a positive team environment. The position requires effective communication of daily goals, motivating employees to achieve operational targets, and providing updates to management. Additionally, the Assistant Warehouse Manager will enforce safety management plans, delegate tasks among the team, and manage a small team of direct reports, including conducting interviews, training, and performance management. This role demands strong problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a commitment to maintaining professional relationships across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the daily operations and ensure daily objectives are being met
  • Act as a Location's point of contact in absence of Warehouse/Location Manager
  • Implement the Lean Six Sigma throughout the warehouse
  • Enforce company compliance standards
  • Ensure the planning and scheduling of distribution services are executed in a timely manner
  • Manage and perform activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation
  • Support an environment that fosters open and positive team communication
  • Build a strong rapport with our service providers and clients
  • Communicate daily/shift goal of facility and group(s)
  • Device, communicate and implement plans to obtain operational goals
  • Work with and motivate employees to ensure goal achievement
  • Provide progress or constraint updates to management and implement corrective measures as needed
  • Enforce location safety management plans
  • Delegate and appoint work among the team
  • Manage a team of up to 4 direct reports
  • Interview, train, select employees
  • Determine the pay and the hours of work
  • Make independent discretion and judgement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate degree or comparable work-related experience preferred
  • Two (2) years or more of problem-solving skills experience, use of formal Root Cause Countermeasure
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work, along with strong follow-up, analytical, problem-solving, and sound decision-making skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms with customers, employees, peers, and management
  • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization
  • Work self-directed with minimal supervision
  • Work independently and as a member of a team
  • Flexibility to operate, and self-driven to excel, in a fast-paced environment
  • Capability to multi-task and highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Exposure to Lean principles, systems, and tools (beginner level)

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred
  • Two (2) years or more of experience in logistics, warehouse, or industry-related field preferred
