About the position

The Assistant Wrestling Coach at Atlantis Charter School is responsible for facilitating and coordinating wrestling activities for the 24/25 season. This role involves coaching, managing safety protocols, and supervising students participating in the sport. The position emphasizes commitment to equity and inclusion, aligning with the school's values, and reports directly to the Athletic Director or their designee.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate wrestling activities for the assigned season.
  • Coach and manage safety protocols for students participating in wrestling.
  • Supervise and evaluate all students within the wrestling program.
  • Maintain current First-Aid, CPR, and Concussion training as required.
  • Attend regular coach meetings organized by the Athletic Director.
  • Create an encouraging environment for student participation in athletics.
  • Adhere to practice schedules and enforce student practice rules.
  • Model positive behavior and fair play during practices and games.
  • Instruct students in the proper use of wrestling equipment.
  • Notify the Athletic Director of any equipment misuse or replacement needs.
  • Train students in basic wrestling skills and techniques.
  • Maintain records of student athlete attendance and game statistics.
  • Assist in planning and executing the end-of-year awards ceremony for students.

Requirements

  • Previous experience coaching wrestling or a similar sport preferred.
  • Experience in teaching and coaching techniques appropriate to wrestling preferred.
  • Ability to acquire First Aid, CPR, AED, and Concussion training certifications.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License for transporting students.
  • Availability to attend practices, games, and meetings outside of school hours.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to relate well to students and staff.

  • Experience in sports communication skills.
  • Dependability and reliability in fulfilling coaching duties.
