About the position

The Assistant Men's Wrestling Coach plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Men's Wrestling Coach in managing and administering all activities related to the NCAA Division III wrestling program. This position focuses on enhancing the collegiate experience of student-athletes while fostering a positive team culture that promotes growth and development. The assistant coach will be involved in recruiting, training, and coaching, ensuring compliance with NCAA guidelines and contributing to the overall success of the wrestling program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach with the management and administration of wrestling activities.
  • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the athletic department and NCAA regulations.
  • Assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and ensure compliance with NCAA guidelines.
  • Construct and implement daily practice plans and conditioning circuits.
  • Monitor eligibility, academic progress, and roster size of student-athletes.
  • Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes.
  • Coordinate outreach to alumni, donors, families, and fans via social media and newsletters.
  • Track and aid wrestlers in community service outreach and activities.
  • Assist in developing strategies to motivate student-athletes to perform at maximum levels.
  • Coordinate with campus offices to ensure student-athletes are well prepared for competition.
  • Monitor the condition of equipment and facilities, submitting repair requests as needed.
  • Complete required training and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Responsible for travel arrangements for the team.
  • Assist in the selection, purchase, fitting, and maintenance of team equipment and apparel.
  • Track expenditures for team accounts to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Assist with fundraising activities and coordinate efforts with the Director of Athletics.
  • Compile data and reports as requested by the head coach or senior administrators.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and departmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Prior coaching experience required, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Previous wrestling experience at the collegiate level is strongly preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in TrackWrestling and OPC weight management systems.
  • Efficient with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED training certification required.
