About the position
The Associate Classroom position at Metro Nashville Public Schools involves providing instructional support in classrooms during teacher absences. This role requires flexibility to meet both short-term and long-term needs, including supervising students, administering assessments, and collaborating with instructional teams to enhance student learning.
Responsibilities
- Fill vacancies created by absent teachers or those on leave.
- Provide tutoring and intervention services for students as needed.
- Plan daily lessons in collaboration with instructional leaders.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse student needs.
- Follow daily schedules, class rolls, and lesson plans provided by teachers or administration.
- Proctor and grade examinations, entering results into classroom records.
- Record attendance according to school policy.
- Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures for effective management.
- Participate in meetings and assist with school events as required.
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
- 1-3 years of work experience in an educational setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Basic understanding of current technology.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Knowledge of School Board policies and practices related to teaching.
- Sensitivity and tact in handling problems and emotional distress.
- Ability to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Experience with Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.
