About the position

The Associate Director of Supply Chain at Verizon is responsible for managing a team that supports Global Operations, focusing on transportation logistics for devices, network, value, and international logistics. This role involves acting as a subject matter expert on new initiatives, evaluating current transportation models, and implementing strategies to reduce costs while maintaining service level commitments. The position requires leading cross-functional teams, managing third-party freight audits, and overseeing transportation budgets and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team responsible for supporting Global Operations in transportation logistics.
  • Act as the lead subject matter expert on new initiatives and projects across the transportation team.
  • Evaluate the current transportation model and identify strategies to decrease costs while meeting service level commitments.
  • Lead a team in analyzing cost containment initiatives and process improvements across the transportation network.
  • Liaise with internal and external parties regarding transportation matters.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Establish and maintain reporting accuracy and consistency, including the creation and distribution of scorecards and dashboards.
  • Produce and deliver reports to senior management to track productivity, quality, and efficiency of carriers.
  • Lead and execute strategic initiatives for Verizon Supply Chain.
  • Develop strategies to improve transportation cost and performance while adhering to legal requirements.
  • Drive tactical transportation cost containment initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 7 years of experience in supply chain management or logistics.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with cost containment initiatives.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Proficiency in transportation logistics and budget management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with third-party freight auditing.
  • Familiarity with transportation dashboarding and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of inventory planning and warehouse operations.
