About the position

The Associate Director of Technology II at AT&T is responsible for supervising a team of data pipeline engineers and Power BI developers. This role focuses on producing valuable insights for the Consumer Technology experience team, emphasizing Agile measurements and collaborative efforts with stakeholders and peer teams. The position involves technical oversight, team management, project planning, and ensuring compliance with data governance policies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of data pipeline engineers and Power BI developers.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure best practices and coding standards are followed.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of ETL/ELT processes.
  • Supervise the creation and maintenance of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and providing solutions.
  • Identify training needs and organize workshops or training sessions for team members.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior developers and engineers.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing within the team through regular meetings or documentation.
  • Conduct daily stand-up meetings to review progress, discuss obstacles, and plan daily tasks utilizing a kanban methodology.
  • Allocate tasks and projects based on team members' skills and workload.
  • Monitor the performance of team members and provide regular feedback.
  • Address any interpersonal issues or conflicts within the team promptly.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all processes, projects, and code.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and milestones for data and BI initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are on track and make adjustments as needed.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and manage expectations.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables meets the organization's standards.
  • Implement and promote best practices in data management and BI development.
  • Continuously seek ways to optimize workflows and processes for better efficiency.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools or technologies that can improve team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and standards.
  • Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive data.
  • Collaborate across Business Operations on metrics and measurements to ensure data quality, validate findings, and share recommended actions.
  • Work closely with other departments to align on goals and requirements.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of the data and analytics roadmap.
  • Encourage innovative solutions and the adoption of new technologies within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with Azure Cloud.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in building and optimizing Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Experience in custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • Experience with Python, SCALA, SPARK, .NET.
  • Experience with SQL programming.
  • Experience with machine learning and automation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AI is not required but a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with data presentation and visualization best practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of scaled agile methodologies and nomenclature.
  • Experience in client engagements, interpreting client's business challenges, and recommendations for business stakeholders.
  • Experience developing visualization such as reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids in support of findings.
