About the position

The Associate Project Manager position at PPL Services Corporation is responsible for managing a portfolio of small to medium-sized projects related to capital and maintenance activities in the utility sector. This role serves as the single point of accountability for project delivery, supporting project leaders and managers in various tasks to ensure successful project completion. The position requires effective communication, risk management, and adherence to project management methodologies to deliver strategic business projects efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of small maintenance activities and routine program projects.
  • Assist project leaders and managers with project forecasting, budget analysis, and scheduling.
  • Plan and direct the successful management of assigned project portfolios.
  • Maintain communication with management to escalate risks and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Advise leadership on project portfolio status, budget, and resource planning.
  • Develop and maintain project management plans including scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Manage project activities throughout the project life cycle from planning to close out.
  • Apply PPL PM methodology and enforce project standards.
  • Develop and manage project communication plans and facilitate team deliverables.
  • Manage project changes through the established governance structure.
  • Proactively identify risks and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Ensure project documents are complete and stored appropriately.
  • Manage project budgets, cash flows, and invoicing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or Construction Management.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the utility industry or related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to track costs and work within budget and cost controls.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
  • Familiarity with electric utilities equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and field experience.
  • Customer interface experience.
  • Skills in critical path risk assessment and tools.
  • Engineering economics skills.
