About the position

As an Associate QA Engineer/QA Engineer at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), you will play a crucial role in developing conventional engineering, scientific, and quality assurance solutions to meet technical task objectives. Your responsibilities will include learning the company's systems and requirements, assisting senior technical and quality engineering personnel, and accepting delegated technical responsibilities for specific phases of engineering programs. You will support engineers in related work and participate in training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge. In this position, you will assist in the study, development, testing, and analysis of designs, processes, and procedures related to various projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of technical and quality engineering analyses and making calculations using standard techniques and procedures. Additionally, you may prepare project and task cost proposals and assist in the preparation of quality assurance manuals, procedures, instructions, and reports. Your role will also involve conducting and reporting on surveillances, monitoring, assessments, and reviews of quality-related activities. You will develop a working knowledge of organizational and management systems to facilitate Continuous Quality Improvement (CQF) efficiency and service. Demonstrating total quality awareness through the development and submission of Total Quality Improvement suggestions will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. You will be expected to verify that contractual requirements are followed down into the procedures, communicate process changes to users, provide guidance, establish metrics to measure process effectiveness, and identify risks and opportunities within current processes. Engaging in various improvement actions to enhance compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency will also be part of your duties. This position may require you to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of SRNS in making the world a safer place.

Responsibilities

  • Develop conventional engineering, scientific, and quality assurance solutions to technical task objectives.
  • Learn company and specific Division/Department systems and requirements for accomplishing tasks.
  • Assist more senior technical and quality engineering personnel in performing related activities in more complex tasks.
  • Accept delegated technical responsibility for a limited phase or element of a technical or quality engineering program.
  • Support engineers performing related work.
  • Participate appropriately in group's assigned function and/or facility training.
  • Assist in study, development, testing, and analysis of designs, processes, and procedures relating to a limited phase of a project or function.
  • Organize and accept responsibility for the accuracy of limited technical and quality engineering analyses.
  • Make technical and quality engineering calculations using standard techniques and procedures.
  • Prepare project and task cost proposals in an assigned area.
  • Assist in the preparation of quality assurance manuals, procedures, instructions, and reports.
  • Conduct and report on surveillances, monitoring, assessments, and reviews of quality-related activities as assigned.
  • Develop a working knowledge of organizations and management systems to facilitate CQF efficiency and service.
  • Demonstrate total quality awareness through development and submittal of TQ Improvement suggestions.
  • Verify contractual requirements are followed down into the procedures which describe the process.
  • Communicate process changes to the process users and maintain a suite of training modules.
  • Provide process guidance to users of the process above and beyond the procedure and training.
  • Establish the appropriate set of metrics to measure the process effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Evaluate and analyze the process performance metrics and act upon any decline in performance.
  • Identify risks and opportunities with the current process and participate in routine self-assessment of the complete health of the process.
  • Engage in various improvement actions to enhance compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency of the process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain L Level security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • An understanding of environmental laws and regulations, DOE Orders, and knowledge of policies.
  • Experience in performing causal analysis and issue investigations.
  • Experience in Issues Management and corrective action plans.
