About the position

We are actively recruiting for an Associate Account Manager to join the InterWest Team in the Transportation unit of our Commercial Lines Department. This position serves as an introductory role for individuals who are unlicensed and in the process of obtaining a Property & Casualty Broker-Agent license, or for those who are newly licensed without an assigned book of business or with a small, less complex book of business to maintain. The Associate Account Manager will develop and demonstrate an understanding of the sales process while supporting the sales efforts for both new and renewal business. This role is crucial in maintaining effective client and carrier relationships by providing exceptional customer service with a strong focus on client retention within the Commercial Lines department. The Associate Account Manager will be based in one of our offices located in Chico, Merced, Roseville, Sacramento, or Woodland. Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistent and continuous communication with assigned clients, including tasks related to new business setup and applications, renewal applications, and marketing.
  • Develop an introductory understanding of the insurance industry and a basic understanding of the overall company.
  • Apply knowledge and understand the extent and terms of the coverage offered.
  • Engage in the service process in tandem with a Broker or experienced Account Manager to successfully support the client by establishing best practices and meeting service expectations in accordance with Commercial Standards and workflows.
  • Maintain current and accurate client data in the Agency Management System.
  • Ensure timeliness and completeness of work when interacting with clients, agency, and carrier personnel to minimize potential for errors and omissions claims.
  • Process accounts including review of quotes, policy changes, endorsement processing, preparing proposals, binding coverage, basic insurance-related contract review, preparing certificate templates, invoicing, premium financing, and confirming policy accuracy for delivery to clients, and processing final audits.
  • Resolve issues relating to accounting or client billing.
  • Review and process pending cancellations and final cancellations.
  • Escalate client issues to Supervisor or advise the Broker on client issues as appropriate.
  • Provide needed information to clients, carriers, Broker, and other internal personnel.
  • Regularly attend and participate in InterWest's industry-specific practice groups (if applicable).
  • Participate in seminars/webinars and other training to maintain required skill levels and further develop career and industry knowledge.
  • Complete necessary licensing training to obtain Property & Casualty Broker-Agent license.
  • Obtain Property & Casualty Broker-Agent license and maintain required continuing education annually to ensure renewal of the license.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of or experience in the insurance industry is preferable.
  • Active Property and Casualty Broker-Agent License or obtained within 90 days of employment.

Nice-to-haves
