About the position

Hexcel is currently seeking an Associate Accountant for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, problem solver, and enjoys collaborating with people with a diverse set of talents in a dynamic fast-paced environment. Reporting directly to the Accounting Supervisor, this person will work closely with operations management and various cross functional team members.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily accounts payable work under minimal supervision
• Codes invoices with proper vendor number, general ledger account, department, and other appropriate coding detail
• Verifies invoices against purchase order and receiving records, including interaction with purchasing, receiving, corporate accounting, and other plant personnel
• Regular contact with requestors or department heads to resolve coding issues and verification of invoice approval to assure service was completed before invoice is paid
• Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with purchasing, receiving, corporate accounting, vendors, and other plant personnel
• Responds to vendor payment and other inquiries in a timely manner and researches and reconciles any vendor invoice or statement issues
• Prepares AP accrual journal entries as part of the month end close process
• Assists in maintaining accounts payable files, including weekly scanning
• Perform ad-hoc Payroll support functions as needed
• Performs various clerical functions and other various duties or projects, as assigned

Requirements

• Great energy, engaging, and enjoys collaborating with team and other departments, with minimal supervision
• Experience with high-volume accounts payable and payroll (ADP Workforce) preferred
• Familiar with Microsoft suite and bookkeeping procedures
• High school education or equivalent required, associate degree preferred
