About the position

The Associate Analyst in Security Master and Pricing at LPL is a pivotal role that focuses on delivering exceptional customer support for mutual fund trade data and pricing. This position involves comprehensive reporting, including advisor/client reporting, firm-level financial reporting, and risk reporting. The Associate Analyst will utilize various tools and data sources to analyze sponsor-provided documentation, such as prospectuses, and will be responsible for translating and updating the trading database UI with accurate data. A critical aspect of this role is to ensure the quality of all mutual fund data inputs, verifying their accuracy and timeliness. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of investment products, particularly mutual funds and alternative investments. They will be knowledgeable in transactions, securities, pricing, and account valuation, utilizing systems such as Datascope, BETA, BSTS, PDD, Excel, and other internal applications. The role requires a candidate who is curious, meticulous, and eager to learn, with the ability to interface comfortably with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Product Management, Trading, and Risk Management. Working in an agile environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines is essential for success in this position. Key responsibilities include running and reviewing quality control reports, becoming a subject matter expert in Security Master and Pricing, managing monthly quality controls, and ensuring that all investment data is processed into downstream systems. The Associate Analyst will also troubleshoot reconciliation and performance issues reported by advisors, gather metrics for trend analysis, assist with projects to develop client-facing and internal applications, and maintain department procedures. Collaboration with team members on overlapping customer requests and supporting customers by fielding escalations are also critical components of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Run and Review QC Reports
  • Become a subject matter expert in Security Master and Pricing
  • Manage monthly quality controls
  • Ensure data flow management and quality control for investment data
  • Work effectively with other business units to resolve investment data issues
  • Troubleshoot reconciliation and performance issues reported by advisors
  • Gather metrics and create reports for trend analysis
  • Assist with projects to develop client-facing and internal applications
  • Update and maintain department procedures
  • Collaborate with team members on multiple customer requests
  • Support customers by fielding escalations and providing explanations
  • Review and validate industry announcements and resolve discrepancies
  • Collaborate with other business units to correct recurring issues

Requirements

  • 1-3 years in the brokerage or financial services industry with transaction accounting and reconciliation experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Knowledgeable of a wide range of financial investment vehicles including Mutual Funds, Fixed Income Products, Options, Common Stocks, and Variable Annuities
  • Advanced skills with Excel and Access for reconciliation
  • Working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Basic understanding of time and money weighted performance calculations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong customer service skills
