About the position

The Associate Application Engineer, Thermal at Vertiv plays a crucial role in supporting sales representatives and customers by providing technical assistance related to Vertiv's thermal management products and services. This position acts as a vital link between the field and various internal departments, including offering management, engineering, and order management. The engineer will be responsible for delivering technical information about the company's products, assisting with custom product features and pricing, and aiding in the selection of ancillary products. This role is essential in ensuring that customer requirements are met through tailored solutions that are both technically sound and aligned with the specifications outlined in Requests for Proposals (RFPs). In addition to providing applications sales support, the Associate Application Engineer will utilize the Quote Configurator tool to generate comprehensive quotes. They will conduct performance runs on Vertiv's thermal management equipment and assist in reviewing custom equipment orders, providing necessary technical instructions throughout the order workflow. The role may also involve executing technical sales operations tasks, such as processing change orders and engineer-to-order (ETO) requests. Furthermore, the engineer may participate in new product development projects and provide product support to Offering Managers as needed. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all technical specifications and customer needs are met efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Provides applications sales support.
  • Applies Quote Configurator tool to provide comprehensive quote support.
  • Performs equipment performance runs on Vertiv thermal management equipment.
  • Assists in developing clear, concise, and technically sound tailored solutions for customer review and acceptance based on customer requirements and/or Request for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring proper scope and required technical specifications are met.
  • Assists in the review of custom equipment orders and provides technical instruction throughout the order workflow.
  • Executes technical sales operations tasks such as change order and engineer to order (ETO) processing.
  • May assist in providing product support to Offering Managers.
  • May participate in new product development projects.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 0 to 2 years' experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial systems engineering preferred (or equivalent of education and experience).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Proficient and fluent in English including technical terminology.
  • Understanding of commercial infrastructure design objectives, performance factors, and physical requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Commercial or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with technical scope review and formal proposal development.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams.
