About the position

As an Associate Application Engineer at BlackRock, you will play a crucial role in architecting, developing, deploying, and maintaining fast and scalable web front-ends and business processes that are integral to the investment management process for our clients. This position requires you to partner closely with API teams, product management teams, and external client relationship management teams to enhance our product offerings and drive user engagement and adoption. You will be expected to immerse yourself in the business context of your projects, enabling you to quickly take a leading role in problem-solving and decision-making processes. The role is designed to foster collaboration and innovation, with a hybrid work model that allows for four days in the office and one day of remote work each week. This structure is intended to enhance the learning and onboarding experience for new joiners, while also promoting a culture of teamwork and shared success. Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, deploy, and maintain fast and scalable web front-ends and business processes.
  • Collaborate with API teams, product management teams, and external client relationship management teams to enhance product offerings.
  • Drive user engagement and adoption of the product.
  • Learn the business context of projects to effectively solve problems and drive decisions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Information Sciences or related field with one year of experience as a Senior Systems Analyst/Technical Lead, Full Stack Developer, or related role.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Sciences or related field with three years of experience in a similar role.
  • One year of experience with open-source front-end JavaScript libraries including React.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), high-level programming languages including Java and TypeScript, and Redux Pattern.
  • Experience with GIT, Cloud, and front-end unit testing frameworks including Jasmine, Enzyme, and Jest.
  • Familiarity with command line tools including Bash and PowerShell.
  • Experience with Agile methodology and back-end languages and web frameworks.
  • Experience in architecting and deploying complex applications in a production capacity.
