About the position

The Asset-Backed Finance (ABF) Associate will play a crucial role in supporting senior team members across various functions related to Corporate Credit Securitization (CCS) advisory. This position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and reports directly to the Head of Asset-Backed Finance. The CCS business focuses on providing debt and advisory services to middle-market credit managers in the U.S., including Direct Lenders and Private Capital managers. The Associate will be involved in all aspects of CCS lending transaction origination, execution, and ongoing maintenance, which includes marketing, structuring, and closing Lead Arranged transactions. In this role, the Associate will prepare underwriting memos, conduct transaction analysis, and organize the underwriting process for the lead deal team member. They will also respond to inquiries from clients, internal partners, and syndicate partners regarding transactions. The Associate will be responsible for organizing and leading transaction due diligence calls and meetings, as well as writing and distributing syndication materials to potential syndicate partners in Lead transactions. Additionally, they will manage open legal matters related to document creation and execution, perform market analysis and research, and collaborate with key internal and external constituents to support Lead Arranged transactions. The Associate will monitor and research capital market trends, particularly in the securitization markets, maintain internal deal and market databases, and execute ratings-based modeling to determine risk ratings and breakeven loss tolerance. This position also involves contributing to business and client data management processes, making it essential for the Associate to be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects independently.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of CCS lending transaction origination, execution, and ongoing maintenance, including marketing, structuring and closing Lead Arranged transactions
  • Prepare underwriting memos, conduct transaction analysis and summaries, and organize the underwriting process for the lead deal team member
  • Respond to client, internal partners, and syndicate partners on transaction inquiries
  • Prepare and organize transaction due diligence calls and meetings
  • Write, organize and distribute syndication materials to potential syndicate partners in Lead transactions
  • Organize, lead, and resolve open legal matters on legal document creation and execution
  • Perform market analysis and research
  • Work collaboratively with key internal constituents (credit/risk management and PM), external constituents (counsel, trustees and clients), and syndicate partners in support of Lead Arranged transactions
  • Monitor and research capital markets trends with focus on securitization markets
  • Maintain internal deal and market databases
  • Execute ratings based modelling to determine risk ratings and breakeven loss tolerance
  • Contribute to business and client data management processes

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience reading and analyzing CLO bond indentures
  • Strong Excel skills manipulating large data sets
  • Experience preparing leveraged loan and/or securitization loan credit analysis, including identifying and prioritizing transaction risks and mitigants in concise written format
  • Familiarity with rating agency securitization methodologies
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and proven ability to work independently on multiple projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
