About the position

The Associate Athletic Director / Director of Development for Omaha Athletics at the University of Nebraska Foundation is a strategic fundraising role focused on building relationships and securing private support for the NCAA Division I athletic program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. This position involves leading the fundraising efforts, developing major gift strategies, and collaborating with alumni, coaches, and university administrators to enhance philanthropic engagement and support for Omaha Athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the fundraising enterprise for securing private support for Omaha Athletics.
  • Develop and implement a major gift fundraising program.
  • Identify and cultivate major gift prospects.
  • Solicit gifts and ensure appropriate stewardship of donors.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions.
  • Collaborate with the Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics to establish fundraising priorities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the University of Nebraska Foundation and Omaha Athletics.
  • Communicate effectively with administrators, faculty, and volunteers.
  • Participate in the leadership team for both the UNO Advancement Team and Omaha Athletics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in development or a related field, preferably in athletics fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success in soliciting annual and major gifts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
  • Discretion in handling confidential matters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in athletics fundraising preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong relational and listening skills.
  • Ability to build long-term relationships with donors.
