About the position

The Associate Athletic Director for Content Strategy at the University of Washington will oversee the content strategy, brand development, and strategic communications for the Athletic Department's 22 sports teams. This role aims to enhance the UW Athletics brand, increase revenue through ticket sales and fan engagement, and manage digital platforms and creative initiatives. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including coaches and external relations teams, to implement data-driven strategies and ensure effective communication across the department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall department strategy on content, digital platforms, creative video and design initiatives, and strategic communication areas.
  • Elevate the University of Washington Athletics brand and augment revenue generation through increased ticket sales and fan engagement.
  • Develop and manage strategies for the department's social media channels to enhance brand awareness and capture analytics for data-driven decisions.
  • Oversee all creative, digital, and communication units in the department, managing the Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Advancement, Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications, and the Director of Digital Strategy.
  • Collaborate with department coaches and directors of operations on individualized team strategies and priorities related to the department's 22 programs and 650 student-athletes.
  • Work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer and Associate Athletic Director for Ticket Sales and Service, as well as the department's multimedia rights partner, Husky Sports Properties.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and ensure the editorial team delivers high-quality service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and five years of experience at a NCAA Division 1 athletic program and/or a Professional Sports Organization or related field in digital strategy, marketing, revenue generation, communications, or a related field.
  • Management/supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively, as well as be an analytical and critical thinker.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within an athletic department or professional sports organization.
  • Familiarity with NCAA regulations and compliance issues.
