About the position

The Associate Athletic Director for External and Corporate Relations at California Baptist University is responsible for overseeing the external unit of the athletic department. This includes managing brand management, broadcasting, communications, corporate partnerships, marketing, fan engagement, media production, and ticket operations. The role involves strategic leadership, collaboration with the Athletic Director's executive team, and ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations while enhancing the visibility and support for the university's athletic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead the external unit of the athletic department including brand management, broadcasting, communications, and digital media.
  • Serve on the Athletic Director's executive leadership team with sport oversight responsibilities.
  • Manage the in-house corporate partnership program by identifying and soliciting potential sponsors and retaining current sponsors.
  • Supervise department area heads in communications, marketing, media production, and ticketing.
  • Oversee marketing and promotional efforts to generate fan support at events, including advertising and community relations.
  • Manage the department's ticket office operations for athletics events and provide support for university events.
  • Oversee broadcasts of events and manage radio partnerships for men's basketball.
  • Coordinate content for the athletics department website and social media accounts, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Manage vendor partnerships and develop new partnerships as needed.
  • Stay informed on NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations governing athletic sports.
  • Represent California Baptist University Athletics on campus committees and maintain compliance with sports regulations.
  • Respond to administrative correspondence and attend staff meetings.
  • Ensure the welfare of student-athletes and manage travel with sports teams for championships.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 4 to 10 years of related experience in athletic administration or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the University's Christ-centered mission and values.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a demanding work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures.
