About the position

The Associate Athletic Director of External Relations at Rice University is responsible for enhancing revenue, attendance, and brand awareness for the Department of Athletics. This role involves creating and executing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, overseeing various teams, and ensuring a positive game day atmosphere while promoting fan engagement and brand consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the communication and brand strategy for Rice Athletics.
  • Recommend, manage, and execute integrated marketing plans/programs and strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Guide event planning and execution.
  • Manage vendors on specific projects.
  • Manage program budget, goals, and objectives in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage market research and analysis used to make informed decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation, and customer targeting.
  • Assess market opportunities and track market trends.
  • Recommend marketing improvements based on findings.
  • Write, design, and coordinate the production of communication and marketing materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of experience in the sports marketing field with experience developing marketing plans to drive attendance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Good organization and creativity skills.
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Video creation and editing capabilities.
