About the position

The Associate Athletics Director for Bulldog Club Finance is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and financial management of the Bulldog Club finance department. This role includes budget preparation, compliance with regulations, financial reporting, and supervision of finance personnel, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily fiscal activities including budget preparation, accounting, and business planning.
  • Coordinate, design, and implement financial controls.
  • Prepare the budget for review with the CFO of MSU Athletics and the BDC Board of Directors.
  • Prepare and coordinate various financial reports for management on a monthly basis or as needed.
  • Supervise finance personnel, evaluate performance, and motivate employees to achieve peak productivity.
  • Prepare all closing entries and financial statements for the annual audit.
  • Serve as primary liaison with independent auditors.
  • Participate in reviewing audited financial statements with the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare Form 990 for the Bulldog Club in cooperation with the outside tax preparer.
  • Coordinate annual filing for Form 1099's and Form W-2's for the Bulldog Club.
  • Review general ledger accounts to maintain accuracy.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and other departmental meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare reports and special analyses for the Bulldog Club, presenting recommendations for changes to increase efficiency.
  • Review investment strategy and activity regularly, implementing changes as necessary.
  • Administer and audit all payroll activities for accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Advise on fiscal management policies and procedures to advance the division's business interests.
  • Communicate and foster relationships with internal MSU organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or closely related field.
  • Three years of full-time professional management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Leadership experience of full-time financial personnel.
  • Five years of full-time professional financial management experience.
  • Experience producing audited financial statements.
