About the position

The Associate Athletics Director for Compliance at St. Mary's College of California is responsible for ensuring compliance with NCAA and West Coast Conference regulations within the Athletics Department. This role involves monitoring eligibility, conducting rules education, managing compliance documentation, and serving as a liaison between various departments and the NCAA. The position also supervises compliance staff and coordinates compliance-related activities across all intercollegiate sports.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the liaison between the College and the NCAA and West Coast Conference regarding compliance and eligibility issues.
• Enforce, monitor, and implement best practices in NCAA and conference compliance within the Athletics Department.
• Manage official squad lists for all intercollegiate sports and coordinate NCAA certification team meetings.
• Conduct rules education presentations and meetings for athletics staff and student-athletes.
• Monitor the eligibility of prospective and enrolled student-athletes, including recruitment and continuing eligibility processes.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations, particularly Bylaw 13 related to recruiting.
• Conduct investigations and reporting of NCAA and/or WCC violations.
• Oversee the scheduling and approval of playing and practice seasons for all sports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience in NCAA compliance or a similar role in athletics administration.
• Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with various departments.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in sports administration or related field.
• Experience with compliance software and systems.
• Knowledge of student-athlete welfare issues.
• Familiarity with the West Coast Conference regulations.
