About the position

The Associate Athletic Director for Major Gifts/NIL at UNC Charlotte is responsible for leading the solicitation of major gifts and overseeing Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) operations. This role involves actively identifying and securing significant donations, coordinating NIL opportunities for student-athletes, and ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the implementation of educational programs related to NIL.

Responsibilities

  • Actively identify and solicit gifts of $50k+.
  • Coordinate and execute NIL opportunities for Charlotte student-athletes.
  • Lead Charlotte Athletics NIL program, developing and coordinating programming and resources.
  • Oversee the processing of student-athlete NIL transactions to ensure compliance with NCAA, AAC, and institutional regulations.
  • Coordinate with multimedia rights holders to prospect leads from corporate partners for NIL opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary NIL contact for internal and external stakeholders, including student-athletes, coaches, and local businesses.
  • Research and benchmark college athletics NIL market, staying current with trends and market conditions.
  • Implement and oversee a comprehensive annual NIL education program for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on NIL initiatives with all Charlotte Athletics units, including compliance and marketing.
  • Maintain accurate records on all existing and prospective partner relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of external experience in a Division I athletics program.
  • Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts within a defined major gift program.
  • Extensive fundraising campaign experience and collaboration with university counterparts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and 7 years of fundraising experience at a Division I athletics program.
  • Ability to interpret complex data to guide strategic decisions.
  • Understanding of NIL regulations, trends, and dynamics.
  • Proven history of managing a portfolio of prospects.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
