About the position

The Associate Athletic Director for Non-Varsity Programs at Merrimack College is a full-time, twelve-month position responsible for overseeing all club sports teams, the Campus Fitness Center, Recreation Center, intramurals, and fitness programs. This role involves recruitment, program development, budget management, and collaboration with various departments to enhance the college's athletic offerings and student engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the recruitment of all club sport athletes into Merrimack College.
  • Work closely with Undergraduate Admissions to ensure proper communication with prospective club sport athletes.
  • Collaborate with College Marketing and Communications on a cohesive marketing plan for club sports teams.
  • Develop and coordinate all recreation programs and evaluate offerings annually.
  • Work with Human Resources on hiring and onboarding club sport coaches.
  • Ensure a close connection with a vendor for equipment and apparel.
  • Provide a calendar of events for recreation areas including club sports and fitness classes.
  • Schedule practices and game schedules for all club sport teams.
  • Coordinate transportation for teams to and from events.
  • Manage budgets for the department and club sports teams, overseeing fundraising and expenses.
  • Utilize Slate for communication with prospective students and maintain lists for coaches.
  • Oversee all Club Sports & Recreation staff and coaches, holding weekly meetings.
  • Coordinate call nights for club sports teams to engage with prospective students.
  • Hold informational sessions for club sports teams at the beginning of each semester.
  • Prepare reports on club sports activities, retention, and recruitment.
  • Attend meetings related to retention and recruitment, as well as club sports events.
  • Represent Merrimack College with professionalism and integrity.

Requirements

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • 8-10 years' experience in Recreation
  • RCRSP preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines
