About the position

The Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine / Senior Woman Administrator at Northwestern State University is responsible for overseeing the sports medicine department and providing leadership in various athletic programs. This role includes managing athletic training operations, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with Title IX regulations while promoting diversity and inclusion within intercollegiate athletics.

Responsibilities

• Coverage of all games and practices for assigned sports.
• Treatment and rehabilitation of injuries for athletes.
• Completing necessary paperwork including injury reports, referrals, and medical history.
• Supervision of the daily operation of the athletic training room.
• Supervision of staff and student athletic trainers.
• Developing and overseeing the budget for athletic training supplies and equipment.
• Assisting in supervision of physician visits to the athletic training room.
• Providing guidance and leadership to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
• Developing strategies to promote diversity and inclusion in athletics in collaboration with the Office of Equity and Inclusion.
• Serving as the sport administrator for designated programs, managing day-to-day needs and issues.
• Coordinating and approving team schedules for practice and competition in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
• Representing the university at various meetings as the Senior Woman Administrator.
• Acting as a liaison for student-athletes, addressing their concerns and facilitating problem-solving.

Requirements

• Master's degree required.
• Fully certified as an Athletic Trainer by the BOC.
• Must become state licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners prior to start date.
• Experience at the college level preferred.
