About the position

The Associate Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Recruitment at Duquesne University is responsible for guiding prospective, incoming, and transfer student-athletes through the recruiting, admissions, and financial aid processes. This role collaborates with head coaches and sports program administrators to ensure compliance with institutional and NCAA requirements, serving as a key liaison between student-athletes and the admissions office.

Responsibilities

  • Assess academic preparedness of all prospective student-athletes.
  • Evaluate transcripts and international records for eligibility.
  • Work with coaches to complete pre-evaluations of all freshmen, transfer, and graduate prospective student-athletes.
  • Create, develop, and maintain accurate financial aid records of all student-athletes across the Athletics department.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Office of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and assist coaches throughout the application process.
  • Act on behalf of Intercollegiate Athletics to the Campus Admissions Committee regarding admitting recruits.
  • Participate in team meetings and convey admissions and NCAA eligibility requirements to coaches and student-athletes.
  • Provide in-depth information on admissions requirements, prerequisite courses, and school/college programs.
  • Liaise with Admissions Transfer Director(s) to evaluate transfer prospective student-athletes.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, including professional development and providing annual reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a collegiate admissions/intercollegiate athletics environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA eligibility legislation, especially related to initial and transfer eligibility.
  • Previous experience in recruiting or admissions on a college campus.
  • Current knowledge of applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA and other associations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs at colleges/universities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate University policies to prospective students.

Nice-to-haves
