About the position

The Associate Athletics Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Athletic Internal Operations Office, ensuring its growth and efficiency as a service to the Athletic Department. This role includes managing financial matters and reporting for the department, as well as supervising staff and coordinating compliance with NCAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the creation of monthly financial reports and reconciliations for all Athletic Department accounts.
  • Review and approve monthly and annual financial reports and distribute them to relevant stakeholders.
  • Compile financial data for submission to the US Department of Education as required by the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act and Title IX.
  • Oversee the compilation of financial data for NCAA submissions and manage external audits.
  • Review and approve Deferred Revenue and Prepaid Expenses to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate bonded indebtedness schedules with the University Fiscal Office and System Financial Office.
  • Reconcile athletics temporary working fund monthly using Quicken software.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Internal Operations Office and ensure essential financial duties are completed.
  • Oversee all activity and updates in Tableau, maintaining dashboards for financial statements and metrics.
  • Conduct bi-annual budget meetings with department heads to ensure budgets are on target and mitigate expenses when necessary.
  • Track expenses for facility renovations, construction projects, or coaching staff transitions.
  • Maintain familiarity with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations, ensuring compliance among student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of athletic administration experience.
  • Cash and Accrual Basis Accounting skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA Degree
  • Three years of athletic administration experience, including managing athletic programs, budgeting, event coordination, compliance, and team management.
  • Three years of public or private accounting experience, including financial reporting, auditing, and budget management.
  • Experience using TAMU systems and processes: FAMIS, Aggiebuy, Concur, IPayment.
  • Applications experience: Laserfiche, Excel, Word, Access.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and SEC Conference rules and regulations and Texas A&M System Policies and Procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to gather and interpret data.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and evaluate other staff members.
