About the position

The Associate Athletic Director at Texas A&M University plays a pivotal role in the management and vision of the Athletic Internal Operations Office. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring the continual growth of the office as a service to the Athletic Department. The Associate Athletic Director will work closely with the Senior Associate Athletic Director & CFO, particularly in financial matters, to ensure the department's financial health and compliance with regulations. This role requires a strong background in both athletic administration and accounting, with a focus on creating and managing financial reports, reconciliations, and compliance with NCAA and Title IX regulations. In this position, the Associate Athletic Director will oversee the creation of monthly financial reports and reconciliations for all Athletic Department accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal regulations. This includes the preparation of financial data required for submission to the United States Department of Education and the NCAA. The Associate Athletic Director will also coordinate audits with external auditors and manage bonded indebtedness schedules in collaboration with the University Fiscal Office. Additionally, the Associate Athletic Director will lead the internal operations of the Athletic Department, focusing on improving efficiencies and workflows within the Business Office. This includes conducting budget meetings with department heads and ensuring compliance with NCAA and conference regulations. The role also involves overseeing analytical projects and expense tracking for various athletic initiatives, ensuring that all financial activities align with the department's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation of monthly financial reports and reconciliations for all Athletic Department accounts.
  • Review and approve monthly and annual financial reports and distribute them to the CFO, Director of Athletics, the President, and the Board of Regents as requested.
  • Compile financial data required for submission to the USDE and NCAA, ensuring compliance with EADA and Title IX regulations.
  • Plan and execute the external NCAA Agreed Upon Procedures audit with external auditors.
  • Coordinate bonded indebtedness schedules with the University Fiscal Office and System Financial Office.
  • Reconcile athletics temporary working fund monthly through Quicken software.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Internal Operations Office, ensuring continual growth and efficiency.
  • Conduct bi-annual budget meetings with head coaches and department heads to ensure budgets are on target.
  • Oversee all activity and updates in Tableau, maintaining dashboards for financial statements and metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations regarding student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of athletic administration experience, including three years in public or private accounting experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
