About the position

The Associate Athletic Trainer at Piedmont University plays a crucial role in the Athletic Department, focusing on the prevention, treatment, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for various intercollegiate sports. This position involves providing medical coverage during practices and games, overseeing the Weather Tracking System, and ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations. The Associate Athletic Trainer also supports the athletic training program by maintaining medical records, administering concussion tests, and assisting with insurance claims.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prevention, treatment, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
  • Provide practice/game coverage for all intercollegiate sports.
  • Make medical referrals for student-athletes injured during athletic competition.
  • Provide rehabilitation services for student-athletes under physician supervision.
  • Oversee the Weather Tracking System, including setup and training for staff.
  • Monitor weather conditions and make recommendations for athlete welfare.
  • Oversee the Hardship Waiver Process.
  • Attend professional meetings, clinics, and workshops as appropriate.
  • Maintain proper medical records of treatment.
  • Administer preseason baseline concussion tests to student-athletes.
  • Implement the Drug Testing Program for student-athletes.
  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the Secondary Insurance Claims Process.
  • Act as a preceptor for students in the Athletic Training Master's program.
  • Accept other duties as assigned to ensure the successful operation of athletic department activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE Accredited Program.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience preferred.
  • BOC Certified.
  • State of Georgia Licensed or Eligible.
  • CPR / AED / First Aid Certified.
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR.
