About the position

The Associate Athletics Director for External Operations at Wright State University plays a pivotal role within the executive staff of the Athletics Department. This position is primarily responsible for maximizing all external efforts related to the department, which encompasses marketing and promotions, sports information, corporate partnerships, and ticketing. The successful candidate will ensure that all external operations comply with NCAA regulations and university policies. Furthermore, this role is crucial in fostering long-term relationships with current and former student-athletes, alumni, donors, and supporters of WSU Athletics, thereby enhancing the overall engagement and support for the athletics program. In this capacity, the Associate Athletics Director will oversee several key areas, dedicating 60% of their time to the supervision and strategic planning of sports information, annual giving, marketing and promotions, corporate partnerships, ticketing, and the spirit unit. This involves not only managing these areas but also coordinating efforts to ensure that they align with the overall goals of the Athletics Department. An additional 20% of the role will involve collaboration with various campus organizations, development, and marketing departments to create donor-centered strategies and marketing initiatives. The Associate Athletics Director will also work closely with the Director of Club Sports regarding the spirit unit, ensuring a cohesive approach to athletics engagement. The remaining 20% of the position will focus on planning and attending donor and fundraising events. This includes overseeing the organization of marketing and fundraising events such as golf outings, dinners, receptions, and games, as well as actively participating in these special events to foster relationships and support for the athletics program. The role may require occasional travel and participation in evening or weekend activities related to the job, reflecting the dynamic nature of the position within the university's athletics framework.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years' related work experience, with at least 2 years in Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
