About the position

The Associate Athletics Director is responsible for managing the scheduling and operations of all athletics facilities, overseeing maintenance, and ensuring compliance with NCAA and CUNY policies. This role involves supervising staff, managing space rentals, and providing financial oversight for athletic programs, while fostering a professional and inclusive environment within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the schedule for all athletics facilities, including practice and games of varsity sports, recreation, intramurals, campus events, and external rentals.
  • Oversee the space rental process, including client management, contracts, scheduling, and facility work orders.
  • Supervise the upkeep and maintenance of all athletics facilities, including the Fitness Center, gymnasiums, and other sports areas.
  • Submit facilities and technology work orders necessary for successful operations of facilities and events.
  • Schedule and maintain the van fleet for transportation needs.
  • Supervise aquatics, recreation, space rental operations, and facility management staff.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Federal Work Study students and facility support staff.
  • Develop professional standards for all support staff and supervise a minimum of two varsity sport programs.
  • Enforce policies and procedures for all facilities and maintain emergency action plans.
  • Organize, market, and provide financial oversight for camps and clinics hosted by varsity athletic programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.
  • Engage in active listening to build relationships and assist in achieving individual goals.
  • Model professionalism and effective communication, promoting the mission and core values of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college; Master's preferred.
  • 6+ years' experience in facility, business, and customer service related fields preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required.
  • EMS Scheduling proficiency preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED certifications required.
  • Experience in hiring, supervising, and training staff.

  • Experience in developing schedules to ensure coverage of all work areas.
