About the position
The Associate Attorney position at a full-service AM 200 law firm in Fresno, CA, is designed for a junior attorney in their 1st to 3rd year of practice. This role focuses on education law, providing an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by serving public schools and advancing civil rights in education. Responsibilities
- Handle a caseload involving education-related litigation, focusing on administrative hearings and civil rights issues
- Represent K-12 schools, community colleges, and universities on labor, employment, and student matters
- Conduct third-party neutral investigations into complaints filed by employees and students for school district clients
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on collective bargaining, employee discipline, and administrative law matters
- Work closely with partners and develop skills in investigation, litigation, and client advising within education law
Requirements
- 1-3 years of legal experience with litigation (plaintiff or defense), labor & employment, insurance defense, workers' compensation, or family law
- Juris Doctorate and California Bar membership in good standing
- Strong academic background from an accredited law school (preferred schools include UC Law San Francisco, UC Davis, McGeorge, or San Joaquin College of Law for candidates with ties to Fresno)
- Interest in changing practices to education law
