About the position

Bremer Whyte Brown & O’Meara, LLP is seeking a talented Litigation Associate to join our award-winning team in our Newport Beach headquarters. As an integral member of our litigation team, you will gain immediate hands-on experience handling a variety of litigation matters involving wrongful death, premises liability, personal injury, construction, breach of contract/business disputes, and more. From inception to resolution, you will have the opportunity to handle every aspect of your cases including legal strategy, research, drafting pleadings and motions, managing discovery, arguing motions in court, attending mediations, and trial. You will have the chance to work with a diverse range of clients, including individuals, businesses, and organizations. This role offers an excellent platform for professional growth, as you will collaborate closely with team members and have the opportunity to be mentored by experienced partners.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a variety of litigation matters from inception to resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings and motions.
  • Manage discovery and interface directly with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Argue motions in court and attend mediations.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and manage a caseload independently.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in civil litigation in a law firm environment.
  • Skilled in conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and motions.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, and attending mediations preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and advocacy skills.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Nice-to-haves

  • Trial experience is a plus.
  • Desire and/or ability to manage a caseload independently.
