About the position

The Associate Auditor position at the Auditor of State's office involves performing external financial audits for public entities in Ohio. Responsibilities

  • Develop working knowledge of auditing techniques and Ohio State government practices.
  • Serve as a contributing member of an audit team, completing assigned duties and communicating with the team leader.
  • Receive controlled assignments of increasing difficulty and responsibility.
  • Conduct background research of agencies being audited, including examination of relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Travel to audit site locations and obtain audit evidence.
  • Perform audit fieldwork, including visual examination of records and preparation of workpapers.
  • Gather, interpret, compile, and analyze data pertinent to audits.
  • Review data and other information relevant to the audit.
  • Participate in interviews of agency staff to elicit information.
  • Help draft audit comments for audit reports.
  • Prepare preliminary drafts of audit findings.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university (Accountancy degree preferred) or completion of at least 12 semester hours in accounting or related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under time-budget structures.
