We are seeking an Associate Automation Manufacturing Engineer/Automation Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering Team in Palmdale, California. As part of our team, you will engage in various manufacturing engineering duties, including providing guidance to engineering teams on design concepts to ensure optimal manufacturing techniques are employed. You will participate in tool design reviews, define sequences of operations for product builds, and investigate corrective actions for non-conforming products. Your role will also involve identifying improvement opportunities that enhance producibility and affordability initiatives. In this position, you will be a key member of the Advanced Automation team, responsible for defining, developing, implementing, and transitioning new technology solutions to manufacturing. This includes working with advanced technologies such as composites fabrication, automation, inspection, and digital capabilities. You will be tasked with incorporating requirements into development plans, evaluating the performance of processes and tools, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Your ability to interface with internal and external customers, program offices, and executive management will be crucial as you handle multiple projects in a dynamic work environment. You will support leadership in maintaining budget responsibilities and project management objectives, ensuring that all aspects of technology development and transition to production activities are executed effectively. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be expected to provide innovative technical solutions to complex problems, utilizing a hands-on approach to act as the technical representative for the Manufacturing organization. This role requires a proactive mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams to achieve organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts to ensure optimal manufacturing techniques are used.
  • Participate in tool design reviews to ensure feasibility and reduce build times and program costs during assembly.
  • Define sequence of operations for product builds.
  • Investigate and initiate corrective actions for non-conforming products.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in areas requiring producibility and affordability initiatives.
  • Define, develop, implement, and transition new technology solutions to manufacturing to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and improve quality.
  • Incorporate requirements into development plans and evaluate performance of processes and tools.
  • Interface with internal and external customers, program offices, engineering disciplines, and executive management.
  • Support leadership in maintaining budget responsibilities and project management objectives.
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently in a dynamic/fast-paced work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 0 years of experience in production assembly/fabrication including composites, machining, coatings application, or production manufacturing operations.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing/production operations with an understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Experience in machining, robotics, or numerical control programming.
  • Experience in composites, automation, heating systems, or coatings application.
  • Experience working with Process Work Instructions (PWI).
  • Experience in creating work instructions, training materials, and visual aids.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting Blueprints and 3-D models.
  • Experience in system requirements development, acceptance testing, and training.
  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting systems, and root cause and corrective action analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to interface/communicate with multiple levels of leadership, engineering, production, customers, and suppliers.
  • Active in-scope DOD Secret/Top Secret security clearance that has been granted/renewed within the past 5 years.

  • Experience in project management and execution (proposal creation, scheduling, budget tracking).
  • Experience in Manufacturing Execution System and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
