About the position

Gogo Business Aviation is seeking an Associate Backend Engineer to join a growing team focused on developing cloud-based entertainment systems for the aviation industry. This role involves designing and implementing scalable backend systems to support inflight entertainment solutions, contributing to a dynamic development team, and participating in the full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly scalable, distributed backend systems to support Aircraft's Inflight Entertainment Solutions.
• Build applications using high code coverage unit tests and E2E tests.
• Implement traditional and serverless applications on the AWS Platform.
• Participate in the full SDLC/Agile cycle engagements including scrum meetings, iterative development, and design sessions.
• Manage and develop RESTFUL microservices using best engineering practices.
• Collaborate with system analysts, engineers, enterprise architects, and subject matter experts to establish the functional or technical vision of our solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 1-2 years' experience with Python/Java/Go.
• 1-2 years' experience with Linux environment (Bash/Python).
• Good understanding of data structures algorithms, OOPS Design patterns, service-oriented architecture, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Proven ability to negotiate timeline and architecture across functional teams.
• Experience with integrating third-party front-end libraries and services.
• Experience using SCM tools such as Git.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of continuous integration using Jenkins.
• Knowledge of Docker containers and container orchestration.
• Experience with AWS, including EC2, Lambda, and S3.
• Comfortable using IntelliJ/PyCharm/Visual Studio Code IDE to perform daily development tasks.
• Experience and/or interest in aviation and/or Telecommunications.
