About the position

WSP is seeking an Associate Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer to join their Structures Bridge Design/Inspection Team in New England. This role involves collaborating with a team of experts on various bridge-related projects, contributing to the development and design tasks, and assisting in bridge inspections. The position offers an opportunity to learn and grow within the field of bridge and transportation engineering while supporting project execution and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Bridge/Highway Design Team on project development and design tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of Bridge Load Ratings.
  • Participate as a team member in Bridge Inspections.
  • Develop plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project work.
  • Support various engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of bridge and transportation engineering.
  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
  • Collect and maintain project documentation and complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in bridge inspection or design or other bridge-related work.
  • Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation, or related field with a strong desire to advance skills.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to take direction from leadership and execute projects accordingly.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is required.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
  • Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
