About the position

WSP is seeking an Associate Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer to join their Structures Bridge Design/Inspection Team in New England. This role involves collaborating with a team of experts on various bridge and highway design projects, contributing to the preparation of bridge load ratings, and assisting in bridge inspections. The position offers an opportunity to develop technical, social, and ethical skills while supporting engineering tasks and project documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Bridge/Highway Design Team on project development and design tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of Bridge Load Ratings.
  • Participate as a team member in Bridge Inspections.
  • Develop plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project execution.
  • Support various engineering tasks to enhance technical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of bridge and transportation engineering.
  • Assist in project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
  • Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
  • Collect and maintain project documentation.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in bridge inspection, design, or related work.
  • Demonstrated interest in structures and transportation fields.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to take direction from leadership and execute projects effectively.
  • Basic proficiency in technical writing and office software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
