About the position

At Navy Federal Credit Union, the Commercial Credit Administration group is integral to the management of the $1B commercial loan portfolio, encompassing Business Lending Operations, Underwriting, Loan Participation, and Portfolio Management. The Business Operations Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the operations staff by performing a variety of functions related to loan operations. This position is designed for entry-level professionals who are developing their skill set and understanding of procedures and analysis techniques. Under general supervision, the analyst will be responsible for optimizing business operations by analyzing current performance and forecasting future trends. The analyst will conduct analyses, gather, organize, and review data to support business operations and planning activities, ensuring that processes are integrated and effective across the department. The role involves routine work assignments of limited scope and complexity, allowing the analyst to gain valuable experience in the field. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures related to lending transactions. In addition to supporting loan servicing and closing activities, the analyst will interact with internal systems to manage wires, resolve loan-related issues, and document business processes. The role also includes analyzing business data to identify solutions to basic problems and contributing to reports that highlight key performance indicators and areas for improvement. Responsibilities

  • Assists with closing and loan servicing support for the institution's participation loan facilities
  • Processes investor remittances, advances, renewals, and books new loans on the core system
  • Interacts daily with internal systems to initiate and receive wires
  • Manages the ongoing balances between loan system and agent bank
  • Researches and resolves loan related issues which may include missing payments, interest rate changes and/or unprocessed draw requests or conversions
  • Ensures all lending transactions are booked and managed correctly ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures
  • Conducts analyses and reporting in support of general business operations and planning activities including budget development, equipment availability and other capabilities
  • Assesses requirements for internal business processes, ensuring integration across teams and business units and compatibility with organizational strategic goals
  • Documents business processes and workflows; identifies inefficiencies or areas for improvement
  • Analyzes and evaluates business data to identify solutions to basic business problems; uses quantitative analysis methodology to perform data, cost and benefit, and/or process measurement analysis
  • Analyzes processes and workflows to understand value chain, input/output, to improve and/or automate business performance
  • Contributes to reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems and value chain, input/output, to improve and/or automate business performance

Requirements

  • 1 year of related banking work experience
  • College/university degree or 1-2 years of experience in business and operational strategy, planning and analysis
  • Familiarity with data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis and operations research
  • Research, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Skill in solving routine or standard administrative, operational and/or system problems and issues
  • Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field
