About the position

As an Associate in Business Process Optimization at McKinsey & Company, you will be part of a dynamic team within the Operations practice, working in one of our North America offices. Your role will involve blending strategic thinking with hands-on implementation to develop and define operational strategies that address some of the world's toughest problems. You will be a key player in our rapidly growing Service Operations line, which specializes in operations within service industries and functions such as sales, business support, and customer care. In this position, you will provide a unique set of tools and techniques to help clients identify opportunities for improvement and implement recommendations that align with their business objectives. You will work directly with clients, sharing your expertise and insights with colleagues globally, which will help expand our knowledge and refine our approaches in Service Operations. Your contributions will be meaningful and hands-on, as you engage in multiple projects across various situations, utilizing your deep knowledge of functional transformations. To succeed in this role, you will leverage automation and digital processes to help clients achieve significant performance improvements quickly. You will challenge both your co-workers and clients to think about complex situations in new and transformative ways, ensuring that the strategies developed are sustainable and impactful.

Responsibilities

  • Blend strategic thinking with hands-on experiences to advise on operational strategies.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required; master's degree in engineering, business, operations, or related disciplines preferred.
  • Years of relevant experience with a progressive career trajectory and outstanding professional achievement.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and quantitative problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in at least two of the following: Lean Management in service industries, Customer Experience, Frontline & Sales process transformation, Field Service or customer care process transformation, Business support function transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading transformational activities within service environments such as retail, telecom, banking, travel and transport, hospitality, or financial services.
  • Ability to work well with others and autonomously with little direction.
  • Strong interest in knowledge development and capability building.
  • Ability to grasp and communicate complex ideas clearly.
  • Willingness to travel.
