About the position

The Associate Buyer for Women's Apparel at Backcountry plays a crucial role in the Merchandising team, focusing on achieving financial goals through effective assortment selection, vendor negotiations, purchase order management, promotions, pricing strategies, inventory management, and online merchandising. This hybrid position requires collaboration with various teams to optimize product offerings and ensure alignment with company-wide financial objectives.

Responsibilities

• Select assortment including pricing, category/brand mix, and seasonal inventory for women's apparel.
• Negotiate with vendors on discounts, terms, pricing policies, and promotional periods.
• Manage purchase orders, including SKU/PO worksheet creation and timely submission to vendors.
• Collaborate with Marketing to develop promotional concepts and manage promotional cadence for the category.
• Set pre-season pricing strategies and manage in-line/in-season pricing and promotional calendar.
• Establish preseason PO receipt flow and manage inventory allocation and sell-through targets.
• Optimize online merchandising including color thumbnails, sort order, and site taxonomy.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of relevant industry merchandising and buying experience.
• Solid foundation in retail math and buying fundamentals.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and time management abilities.
• Ability to perform under pressure and prioritize competing tasks.
