About the position
C.H. Robinson is seeking an Associate Category Specialist to join the Robinson Fresh division. This entry-level position serves as an introduction to the supply chain industry, focusing on fruits and vegetables. The role involves collaborating with growers and suppliers to support the supply chain for a diverse customer portfolio, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with category team members, sharing commodity and market information with the commercial team.
- Engage with suppliers to gain insights into quality, yields, pricing, and production.
- Cultivate and enhance relationships with growers and suppliers, supporting performance improvement using data.
- Assist customers by understanding product specifications and order trends.
- Work with the category team to align the supply chain with customer needs, effectively communicating packing instructions to suppliers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to travel up to 5% (domestically and internationally)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to make data-driven decisions
- Excellent relationship building skills with customers, growers, and internal teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, sometimes out of normal business hours
- Attention to detail with high standards for work; a customer service mindset
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Agricultural or supply chain experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
