About the position

The Associate Chief Administrative Officer (ACAO) at Kaiser Permanente plays a crucial role in the local Medical Center's administrative leadership team, working closely with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and physician leadership. The ACAO is responsible for aligning and mobilizing efforts to achieve the Total Performance strategy, overseeing multiple clinical departments and strategic services, and leading initiatives that promote operational excellence and enhance care experiences. In the absence of the CAO, the ACAO acts on their behalf, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and supports an environment that celebrates diversity and fosters a culture of equity and inclusivity.
  • Provides input to support the development of medical center strategic goals.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking by translating TPMG Total Performance strategy into long-term goals with tactical plans.
  • Develops and operationalizes TPMG Total Performance strategy within areas of oversight, identifying opportunities for strategic action.
  • Pursues new strategies and processes to improve quality, service, operational excellence, and engagement.
  • Encourages diverse thinking to promote performance improvement and innovation.
  • Balances oversight of day-to-day service line operations and execution of complex strategic projects.
  • Oversees day-to-day operations at a fast-paced medical center including ambulatory and ancillary services.
  • Manages large and complex operational budgets, including capital planning and staffing.
  • Drives operational improvement through performance improvement methodologies.
  • Builds productive relationships across TPMG and Kaiser Permanente and in the communities served.
  • Develops a culture of quality and patient-centered service.
  • Supports the CAO in achieving departmental operational accountabilities.
  • Demonstrates commitment to personal growth and seeks feedback.
  • Establishes engagement and skill-building as priorities.
  • Acts as a liaison for directors, managers, and chiefs to achieve performance excellence.
  • Communicates vision, strategy, and performance to varied audiences.
  • Gathers and analyzes data for informed decision-making.

Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) years of general management experience, with three (3) years at a Director-level in a complex healthcare setting.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in clinical operations, overseeing multiple clinical areas.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in complex financial management, program development, and quality improvement.
  • Masters degree in health care, hospital, business, leadership, public administration, or related field.
