About the position

The Associate Chief Information Officer (ACIO) for Application and Digital Solutions leads the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and serves as a principal advisor to the Secretary of Transportation on information technology matters. This role focuses on enhancing application development and digital solution strategies to optimize business processes and achieve the Department of Transportation's (DOT) strategic goals. The ACIO is responsible for modernizing systems, advising on technology initiatives, and implementing innovative solutions to improve services and reduce costs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Office of Application and Digital Solutions and advise the DOT CIO on application development and digital solution strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance on technology initiatives and develop recommendations for implementation.
  • Establish a vision for modernizing and stabilizing systems managed at DOT.
  • Serve as a digital solutions adviser and steward for improving system stability.
  • Introduce new technologies and digital transformation strategies for applications throughout DOT.
  • Encourage the utilization of emerging technology to improve services and reduce costs.
  • Analyze IT resources to better match capabilities with technology demands.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Demonstrated experience in application development and technology platform management.
  • Expertise in application development processes, including cybersecurity considerations.
  • Success in advocating for and introducing new technology platforms in large organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal laws and regulations affecting application development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a decentralized and geographically dispersed organization.
  • Knowledge of Cloud First policies and shared services.
