About the position

The Associate Chief Nurse for Extended Care & Rehabilitation/Behavioral Health Services at the Marion VA Health Care System provides executive leadership and direct supervision to various nursing and program managers. This role is essential in ensuring patient-centered care and achieving organizational goals through collaboration across disciplines. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing operations 24/7, supporting nursing integration, and mentoring staff in a diverse and inclusive environment dedicated to serving Veterans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and direct supervision to Nurse Managers and Program Managers.
  • Oversee Home-Based Primary Care, Community Living Center, and other non-institutional care programs.
  • Support integration and collaboration of nursing with other professional disciplines.
  • Mentor and educate nursing staff to achieve patient-centered care goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification requirements.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state or territory of the U.S.
  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or related field with 4 years of professional nursing experience, including specialized experience equivalent to Nurse III.
  • Proficiency in English language, both written and spoken.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five or more years of progressive nursing experience.
  • Three years of management or supervisory experience in Home Based Primary Care, Rehabilitation, or Behavioral Health.
  • Experience with Ascellon, The Joint Commission, or CARF surveys.
