About the position

The Associate Chief of Finance at Carlow University is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the finance, business planning, compliance, and accounting functions of the University. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance and Business Development, this position plays a crucial role in achieving the University's goals and ensuring compliance with financial regulations while collaborating with various stakeholders within the University community.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the University community to develop and execute a strategic plan.
  • Ensure institutional effectiveness in leadership and formulation of strategic and operational goals.
  • Plan, implement, and manage all financial-related activities to support the institution's mission.
  • Oversee financial activity of auxiliary cost centers and provide profit and loss statements to the VP of Finance and Business Development.
  • Set guidelines and compliance regulations for budget management.
  • Lead project development for tuition and fee pricing, including benchmarking local universities.
  • Manage and assist fund managers with endowment and restricted fund spending.
  • Ensure compliance with all government regulations applicable to accounting and fund management.
  • Assist with capital solution planning for the Office of Finance.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities and strengthen partnerships.
  • Provide oversight and strategic analysis for university benefits in collaboration with HR.
  • Assist in the annual budget formulation process and communicate updates to the university community.
  • Ensure proper internal controls and financial policies are maintained.

Requirements

  • Minimum ten years of demonstrated leadership experience in a financial and administrative role.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business from an accredited institution is required.
  • Master's degree preferred, or extensive experience in comparable positions at higher education institutions.
