About the position

The Associate Chief of OB/GYN Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) functions as a member of Park West's medical leadership team, attending meetings specified by the Chief Medical Officer. This role provides clinical services to Park West patients and serves as a provider advocate and super user of the electronic medical record system. The position requires clinical leadership to maintain organizational accreditations and involves developing and implementing Quality Assurance/Improvement Plans for the Ob/Gyn department. The Associate Chief will work to promote integration of clinical services with other disciplines, collaborate with Human Resources for provider recruitment, and coordinate provider work schedules to maximize patient access to care. Additionally, the role includes mentoring and evaluating providers, ensuring compliance with policies, and representing the health center in community discussions impacting obstetric and gynecological care.

Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings specified by the Chief Medical Officer as a member of the medical leadership team.
  • Provide clinical services to Park West patients during allocated times.
  • Serve as a provider advocate and super user of the electronic medical record system.
  • Provide clinical leadership to maintain organizational accreditations.
  • Develop and implement Quality Assurance/Improvement Plans for the Ob/Gyn department.
  • Promote integration of clinical services with other disciplines.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit provider candidates.
  • Make recommendations to improve provider retention and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate provider work schedules to maximize coverage.
  • Approve in-service and continuing education for medical provider staff.
  • Mentor, supervise, and evaluate providers and assigned staff.
  • Monitor performance and productivity of medical providers.
  • Ensure provider compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in setting staff performance standards.
  • Represent the health center in discussions with community stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal planning processes to expand health care services.
  • Identify and implement new methods of health care delivery.
  • Obtain health histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret lab results and diagnostic studies.
  • Develop differential diagnoses and therapeutic plans of care.
  • Maintain patient records per organization policy.
  • Evaluate patient's response to plan of care and modify as needed.
  • Provide patient/family counseling and education.
  • Arrange for patient referrals/consultations.
  • Care for obstetrical patients, including high-risk cases.
  • Provide contraceptive care and STD screening.
  • Manage pregnancy testing and care before, during, and after pregnancy.
  • Evaluate and treat common infections.
  • Care for patients before and after menopause.
  • Perform all other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science and Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree with specialized training as a CNM.
  • Graduation from an accredited MSN or DNP program.
  • Licensed and approved to practice in Maryland as an RN and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Prescriptive authority.
  • At least five years of clinical experience.
  • Ambulatory care experience, supervisory experience, and administrative experience are highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in private practice, hospital-based, urgent care, or acute care setting as a CNM.
